DPDP Act FAQs

What is a Significant Data Fiduciary?

A Significant Data Fiduciary, or SDF, is a Data Fiduciary or class of Fiduciaries notified as such by the Central Government. The assessment considers factors including the volume and sensitivity of personal data processed, the risk to the rights of Data Principals, the potential effect on the sovereignty and integrity of India, risks to electoral democracy, security of the State, and public order. SDFs carry additional obligations beyond those applying to ordinary Data Fiduciaries.
