BRB Legal is an Indian law firm focused on the legal architecture of innovation: the rights, contracts and compliance that let a business turn ideas into value, and protect it.

We are a boutique by design. The firm has one office, in Hauz Khas, New Delhi, and two partners: Abhinav Bhalla, who leads our technology and intellectual property work, and Vanessa Singh, who leads our corporate and commercial practice. They work alongside our of counsel, Soni Singh (intellectual property, litigation and arbitration) and Garv Malhotra (international and domestic arbitration), and our senior patent consultant, Sonam Srivastava. Our partners are registered patent and trade mark agents before the Indian Patent Office and the Trade Marks Registry.

Intellectual property is where we began, and it still sits at the centre of what we do. Around it sits our corporate practice: corporate advisory, commercial contracts, data protection, technology, employment, and the disputes that arise when any of these go wrong.

How we work

• Partner-led. Our partners are involved in the work, not only in the introduction.
• Techno-legal. We take the time to understand the technology, product or market behind a matter, because good IP and technology advice depends on it.
• Plain English. We explain the law in terms a founder, an engineer or a board can act on, and tell clients what we would do first.
• Commercial. Legal advice is a means to a business end. We keep the client’s objective, timetable and budget in view.

Who we act for

We act for multinational companies and their Indian subsidiaries, foreign law firms seeking Indian counsel, Indian businesses from startups to established groups, research institutions, and public bodies. Much of our IP work comes from overseas, as Indian associates for PCT national phase applications, Madrid designations and Paris Convention filings.

Professional standards

BRB Legal and its advocates are bound by the Advocates Act, 1961 and the Bar Council of India Rules. We run a conflict check before taking instructions, keep client information confidential, and handle the personal data we receive in line with our Privacy Policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
