Patent FAQs
What information does the revised Form 27 actually require?
Considerably less than the old form. The revised Form 27 asks, in substance:
• whether the patent has been worked in India;
• if it has been worked, a confirmation to that effect — no figures for quantum or value are now required;
• if it has not been worked, the reasons and the steps being taken towards working; and
• whether the patent is available for licensing.
The removal of revenue and volume disclosure is the change most welcomed by patentees, and it materially reduces the commercial sensitivity of the filing.
