Headnote
A refusal for want of inventive step was remitted on three defects. The order invoked common general knowledge in the art without identifying its source or explaining how it rendered the claim obvious. It found that the skilled person would be easily inspired by the combined teachings of six cited documents, with no discussion of the claim against any of them. And it made no reference at all to the patents granted abroad on the same invention over most of the same prior art.
Disposition
Allowed. Matter remitted for de novo scrutiny by a different Patent Controller.
