The Controller held that embossing is a general technique, but the claim was not to embossing as a technique; it was to the use of embossing to produce a single moulded screen and deflector in place of one bolted together. One cited document described the bolted arrangement the invention improved on and the other concerned cloth dryers. The explanations and written submissions went unanswered.
